Vintage Hausa Shell Bowl
Story behind the product ~These stunning vintage bowls have been created by hand by the Hausa people of northern Nigeria. Constructed of natural fibres and vintage leather, these gorgeous baskets have an exterior embellished with natural cowrie shells, hand stitched into place, making each and every one different from the next. Cowrie shells were used as a form of currency in past centuries and in a decorative way, a symbol of wealth.
With every bowl being individually crafted, any variation or irregularity are seen as part of their natural organic charm.
