Modern Makenge Basket

Story behind the product ~ A century old and traditional technique of craftsmanship Makenge Baskets were handmade by highly skilled women artisans using fibres of the makenge bush root. The root was boiled at high temperatures to soften the fibres which was then dyed using natural plant ingredients to provide functional weaving fibres. 

Each basket is a unique, one-off.

Each piece has been intricately created by hand. If there are small flaws it is a sign and proof of human touch, making each and every piece unique with tiny little differences.
