Ethiopian Food Basket
Story behind the product ~ A round basket of thick sturdy leather, with a detachable lid held tight by a series of leather straps. The origin of this basket was to transport food when travelling through the desert and were commonly used in Ethiopia by the Oromo People as a kind of 'lunch box'. The basket was carried over the shoulder using its long leather strap and inside you carried foods. Some baskets are wider and flatter, some taller and rounder, and some have lids beautifully decorated with beads.
Vintage bowls, like our Ethiopian food baskets, are becoming increasingly rare to find, making them perfect investment pieces.
